7 Insider Tips For Building Awesome Landing Pages Crazy Fast!

Your success as an affiliate marketer depends on your ability to drive lots of traffic to your websites and affiliate product landing pages. This means having the ability to create and modify your landing pages quickly is mission critical.

You really can't afford to be wasting all your time designing and building out your landing pages when you could be (and should be) focusing on other activities that will actually make you money!

That being said, you don't just want to throw something together either. The quality of your landing page makes a huge difference when it comes to converting your page visitors to actual customers.

This article will focus on some best practices ideas to help you design and build your landing pages faster. I've included 7 insider tips to help make sure that the pages you are building are getting done quickly and won't let your visitors slip away without taking action!

What Exactly Is A Landing Page?

Just so we're clear, let's start with the definition of a landing page.

Wikipedia defines a landing page as, "A single web page that appears in response to clicking on a search engine optimized search result or an online advertisement."

And here is an excellent review of what a landing page is by Shane Melaugh, co-founder of Thrive Themes:

As you can see, a landing page is very specific with its intent and should be designed with this purpose in mind.

Now that we have a clear idea of what a landing page should do, here are some excellent tips that will help you design optimal landing pages in minimal time.

1. Start With Your Keyword Search!

You've probably heard this a million times already so consider this a million and one... Do your Keyword research! I can't stress enough how important the keyword research is. This is true for every page you design and every blog post you write!

You can have the greatest products or be part of the best affiliate program in the world, but if you are not getting ranked in Google or driving visitors to your page you might as well pack up your tent and go home.

Keyword research ensures search relevancy and should dictate how the overall design of your landing page should be. You must make sure your affiliate offer is in alignment with what your potential site visitors are searching for!

There are some excellent keyword research tools out there but a couple of the ones I like most are Ahrefs and Jaaxy. These are two excellent keyword research tools and I like them both but given the cost difference between the two, I get everything I need from the Jaaxy platform.

Go ahead and try it out below. Your search will get executed but you will need to sign up for a free trial account in order to see your results. Or you can cancel your search and look around their site to get additional information.

Notice how recent searches are scrolling along the bottom of the input box above? These are real searches taking place from people around the world! Pretty cool, eh?

You could consider upgrading after your business has taken off and is making you a substantial monthly income. Or if you join the online community that helped me skyrocket my online business at Wealthy Affiliate, you will get Jaaxy for FREE.

2. It's All About The Pre-Planning

As basic as its sounds, this is probably one of the most important steps in the entire process.

You need to invest some time thinking about what you want your landing page to look like and what it's intent should be. Don't go overboard but at least get a general idea of this. Believe me, this is time well spent and doing so will put you way ahead of the game.

All too often people just try to put a page together without even considering what the main headline will be! This is a sure way to diminish or even totally sabotage its success.

So first things first, decide what you want your landing page to do. Is it going to be a sales funnel? Will it be used for lead generation? Will it redirect visitors to Amazon using your affiliate links?

All of these items are extremely important when it comes to the design of the page and how you will actually build it.

3. Find Pages That Inspire You

If you're having trouble deciding on a design for your landing page, go ahead and do a search on the topic and choose some existing designs that resonate with you. I use this little trick all the time since if a particular page grabs my interest to the point where I would take action, it's probably a good design to emulate.

You will be able to find some good sample pages while doing your keyword research as well. After all, these pages are your competition and your goal is to try and out rank them on web searches. But seeing what is already out there is a good place to start and will provide good direction on what type of page you should be trying to build.

Just remember, you don't have to be a Michelangelo when trying to determine what your landing page should look like. Nor do you have to always come up a brand new, original designs. There's plenty of existing, very high quality pages that you can review that should trigger some inspiration for you.

4. Use a Drag and Drop Page Editor

If you aren't already using a front end WYSIWYG drag and drop page editor, you're missing out big time! These are perhaps the biggest single time savers when it comes to building your landing pages - especially the ones that update in real-time.

If you have worked with Wix or Weebly, you already have an idea of the power and flexibility of this type of editor. But if you have ever tried making changes to a WordPress theme, you know how difficult it is if you do not know CSS or HTML code.

WordPress has some pretty good page editors to choose from including Beaver Builder, Elementor, Divi and Thrive Themes. I personally use Elementor and Thrive Themes depending on the type of page that I want to build. But you cannot go wrong with any of these options.

Below is an extensive video showing how to build a landing page using Elementor. It will show you exactly how to design your landing page and what things you should keep in mind while designing and actually building your page.

Hopefully you can see just how powerful the drag and drop style of page editor can be. It provides complete control over virtually any design elements on your page and allows you to modify things very quickly.

Regardless of what editor you choose, I promise you these WordPress plugins will quickly become your new best friends!

5. Organize Your Content and Page Media

This may not seem like a big deal but I can't tell you how many times I've had my new landing page almost completed but then spent the next 2 hours trying to find the perfect images and / or videos to add. Or I've decided on the perfect type of design but I suddenly get the worst case of writers block in history. Ugh!

Not only is this very frustrating, it leads to poorly written pages and pages that won't perform nearly as well as you had hoped. It's a very good idea to write your content first and choose the media that you will use on your landing page.

For example, if you are creating a landing page about basketball shoes, you should have your page headline, sub title headline and page copy (content) already written. You should also have all of your images (including videos if applicable) ready to go before you start building your page.

You don't want to go searching for things on the fly. You want to have them at your finger tips and easily accessible when you need them. I typically create a dedicated sub-folder in my site media just for the page I am working on.

Therefore, if I ever need to change an image or rename it, I know exactly where it is. This is great for SEO as well since your alt tag names on your images are managed much easier since they are all located in specific page locations.

6. Use Pre-Built Page Templates

Now before you think, well thank you for that Captain obvious, there are actually many instances when you will want to use a blank page and build your landing page from scratch. But for general sales funnels and pages designed to be lead magnets, pre-built templates are hard to beat.

Pretty much all of the drag and drop page editors will offer a template library that will consist of everything from landing pages, op-in forms, thank you pages, webinar registrations and much more. And the best part is you still have full editing capabilities to modify and add your personal touches to them.

If for some reason you can't find what you are looking for, there are many add-on widgets and template libraries available for WordPress. Just do a search in the add-on section and choose the styles that you like. Then get your creative juices flowing and design away!

7. Save Your Designs as Templates

One of the biggest time saving techniques I use every time I design anything is saving my work for future usage. I know we are focusing on landing pages here, but you will do yourself a ton of good if you get in the habit of creating and saving your efforts in your template library.

This can include everything from full pages to bullet lists to colored note boxes to comparison grids. It really doesn't matter what it is. If it's something you spent any amount of time on and thing that you may use it again, save it!

Not only will this make your life easier but it will also promote consistency across your page designs and your website in general. Your visitors will appreciate this as well since they will have a more enjoyable experience navigating through your pages if everything flows together nicely and they know what to expect from page to page.

Final Thoughts

There are many things to consider and lots of moving pieces when it comes to designing your landing pages. So keeping things as simple and as efficient as possible is a good habit to get in to as soon as you can.

Successful affiliate marketers learn to make good use of their time. They focus on the things that are actually making them money and get rid of the things that aren't.

Some affiliate marketers are managing 20 - 30 affiliate programs at a time so being organized and efficient is critical. I'm not recommending that you get this many projects going at once, but even managing 4 - 7 affiliate programs will prove to be very challenging unless you learn to be agile and to do things quickly.
