Are you looking for better, more effective ways to boost the effectiveness of your website? Perhaps your site is not generating as much income as you expected no matter how much time and effort you spend on it?
If this is the case, you might want to take a look at Thrive Themes.
But before you push all of your chips into the center of the table, there are some very important things that you must know before diving feet first into this product.
But starting out with the positive, Thrive Themes is one of the most advanced yet simple to use WordPress suite of tools you could ever hope to find. It is focused on helping you build your websites and landing pages faster and easier with true visitor conversion in mind.
It is a true front-end, WYSIWYG editor and page builder for WordPress that allows you to see all of your style changes and page updates in real time.
Thrive Themes also offers an additional ten product plugins that can be added to WordPress, including ten optimally designed WordPress themes. This is what makes up the Thrive Themes family of products and hence the name.
The most popular plugin from Thrive Themes is called Thrive Architect. This is the front-end visual page builder that is designed with conversion, speed and optimization in mind. If you can think it, you can build it!
Sounds awesome, right? But hang on a minute, not so fast... there are a few things you should know about this product before diving in and making it your primary WordPress design tool.
See the video below for a general overview of Thrive Architect:
Thrive Architect will allow you to build professional looking websites at a fraction of the time it would take by building one with WordPress alone. It provides plenty of features including the ability to style with CSS and design with HTML. But for the greater population of most WordPress users, having coding skills is not necessary.
As mentioned earlier, Thrive Themes offers ten plugins for WordPress to help design and build extremely high quality websites. Here is a quick snapshot of the available plugins:
Thrive Themes has done some updates recently and Thrive Content Builder has been renamed to Thrive Architect and has a completely new and redesigned user interface.
Each plugin has it's own specific feature and brings a ton of power to your web building efforts. We will be adding additional blog posts that will review each Thrive Theme plugin individually and in greater detail. But this post will focus on the main visual page builder, Thrive Architect.
There are so many amazing features built into Thrive Architect that is difficult to single out and quantify the best parts of it! But that being said, if you're looking to create professional looking websites quickly, this plugin is the way to go.
Not only does Thrive Architect provide complete design control and flexibility over your web pages, each template and their built in widgets are designed with best practices and optimization in mind. The designers have even gone so far to include the optimal colors, font type and design of the page layout based on a the specific purpose of the web page!
For example, if you are designing a Landing Page for a video training course, the layout colors, fonts and page elements have already been pre-designed based on market research and what actually works.
You can still change things to your liking but if you left everything 'as-is' you would be way ahead of the game. No more messing around with wasting your time building a page and hoping that it will get your audiences's attention. This is pretty much a given with Thrive Themes.
And if that wasn't cool enough, you still have the ability to do A/B testing on all of your forms, popup boxes, light boxes and scroll bars. They even give you the ability to A/B test your Headlines!
You can add 5 or 6 different Headlines to test and Thrive Themes will automatically eliminate the non-performing ones and automatically choose the winner. All this without you needing to do anything other than set it up! Talk about optimizing your efforts... this is one of the most powerful and useful features and based on its simplicity making it pretty much unrivaled by any other product on the market.
Using Thrive Themes is pretty straight forward and gets easier over time. There is definitely a right way and a 'not-so-right-way' of doing things.
But another outstanding feature of this product is they offer a ton of training and support. You will have access to hundreds of training videos and blog posts relating to any design topic you can think of.
They also have a Members Only Dashboard, a Product Knowledge Base, Thrive University and a Support Forum that is available 24/7. So if you get stuck or need some information on how to do something, you are totally covered! Even their Blog page review topics like best practices for web page design, writing better blogs, designing landing pages and pretty much anything else you can think of.
If you come across a specific issue or are having a problem that you cannot figure out, just go to the Support Forum and open a ticket. You will have your answer within the next hour or two at the most.
Their support team is outstanding and provides extremely detailed responses to any open support ticket. In some cases, they will even request a temporary login and password and will go on your site to review and even fix the issue. Again, you can't ask for better support than that!
This is such a great feature because once you've designed a page or a section of a page, you can simply save it as a template and then recall it whenever you want. What a time saver! No more redundancy or re-doing the same thing over and over.
Plus it gives your site design consistency and better readability across different pages. So if you are a blogger you can create one blog post, save the layout and design as a template and re-use it every time you create a new blog post. Your readers will appreciate the consistency!
They also have another feature called Symbols. These are similar to templates but with one major difference: Symbols will be updated throughout your website each time you make a change.
Let's say you've created a highlight box on your site that shows the number of email subscribers you have. If this box was at the bottom of every page of your site, the subscriber number would automatically update across your site regardless of where you changed it.
That is a very basic example but it illustrates the point. Again, another fantastic time saver and a fool-proof way to make sure all of the information is updated and that nothing is left out.
So the main differences between Templates and Symbols are, Templates can be created one time and modified as needed. Symbols can be created one time but will be updated dynamically everywhere they appear on your site.
This entire product review was created and edited with Thrive Architect. In fact, every single page of this website has been created with Thrive Architect! When I update the content, I can see my changes as they happen so I already know how the information in my post will look before publishing it.
If you've spent any amount of time working with the WordPress editor, you know that you have to work in the back end editor, make your changes and then hit Preview before you can see what your content looks like. Not with Thrive Architect. It provides live editing and a true drag and drop interface which makes building your web pages much faster and much easier.
Not only are all of the pre-designed templates, landing pages, forms and widgets built based on best practices, Thrive Themes provides you with tons of them! Need a Home Page? Just choose one from the template library and modify based on your preferences. Need a Landing Page? Need a Lead Capture Form? Need a Quiz Builder? They provide everything you need right out of the box with the freedom to modify to your preferences.
Ok, I think you get the point. But I feel this is important because if you've ever struggled with trying to build a web page quickly then this is something that will greatly benefit you. Believe me, I've been there many times in the past so I know the pain and frustration it can cause. Fortunately, those days are in the past for me!
So, it can't all be peaches and cream, right? That is true with every product as some folks will like it better than others and there will always be critics. Since this is trying to be a very honest review I will be discussing some of the things that I do not like about Thrive Themes.
Some could argue that this is true with any new product you use for the first time. I agree with that. But Thrive Architect has so many different features and it offers so much that it can be overwhelming.
Now that I have been using it for quite some time I am very comfortable with it and feel like I have overcome most of the initial hang-ups I originally encountered. I feel like I can pretty much do anything now, but it took me a few months to get there.
And if all you need to do is build a basic landing page and add a basic navigation menu to your header and footer, you will be fine. Doing the basic things are pretty straight forward and do not take very much time to learn.
But if you building a lead magnet and adding different types of forms to your site with the A/B testing feature, this will most likely take you a bit longer to become comfortable with.
For example, I learned the hard way that there is a hierarchy and a specific order for what forms are displayed on your site depending on the type of form you are using. I struggled with this for many days before opening a support ticket and receiving the correct information and a tutorial video from the support team on the right way to set this up.
But overall, I feel it is totally worth the time and investment and like anything else, the more you do it the better you will get. But please be prepared for some initial frustration, especially if you are a complete newbie to WordPress and website design.
One of the major benefits of Thrive Themes is all of the wonderful, professional design features and templates. But that being said, finding what you need can be difficult, at least at first.
For example, adding a super cool looking Client Testimonial Quote box is already done for you. But it is buried in an element feature called Styled Box, along with 93 other pre-designed, cool looking templates.
It took me a while to figure out where all of these things were located, since Styled Box implies a Styled Box to me and not a collection of templates.
This isn't a huge deal but I did end up designing the things I needed from scratch when they were at my finger tips all along. It just took me a while to find them because locating these types of things is not intuitive until you gain an understanding of the way the product is designed.
Another equally frustrating issue is with a feature called Page Event. This launches a pop-up window when your user intends to leave your page. Very nice to have, right? But again it is buried in the Settings Tab which is in a completely different area from where all of the other elements are located.
So like I said, once you finally figure out where these things are you'll be fine. And hopefully this article will help you not waste your time and fumble around looking for these things like I had to do.
The support team at Thrive Themes are awesome! If you need help with any type of issue, you simply open a ticket under the appropriate topic in their Support Forum and you will get the help you need very quickly.
In some cases, they will request a guest login and password to your site and actually go in a fix the problems first hand.
I've actually had them do this on one occasion as I was competing with a known bug on their end and could not get a particular styling element to work correctly. The support technician was able to log into my site and resolve the problem in less than an hour. I'm happy to report that the bug has been completely fixed now and is no longer an issue. So you will not have to worry about it!
But it's good to know they are there for you if and when you need them.
The only other frustrations I have encountered with support is there is almost too much of it. How could that possibly be a negative thing? What I mean is, it can be somewhat difficult to find what you need in a timely manner.
Using the Styled Box and Page Event issue as an example, I was not able to find the answers I needed when searching their support portal. I had to open support tickets for each of these issues. In my opinion, it should not have been this difficult.
I should have been able to search on 'Client Testimonial template' and 'Page Event' and receive the information immediately. Their search relevance when it comes to finding specific support related issues is not very good and typically does not match up very well to the search term you enter into their knowledge base portal.
But all things considered, support in general is fantastic and many of the issues I've discussed here are really quite minor and are one-time issues only.
One of the best ways to learn a new plugin is by using it. Unfortunately, Thrive Themes does not offer this option.
They do offer different pricing options but if you want to try it out first without pulling out your credit card, you're going to be out of luck.
But depending on the type of plan you choose, the cost is very low. Full access to their entire product universe will cost you $19 per month. This is a ridiculously low cost in return for the incredible value you are receiving.
Before I went ahead and made my purchase, I spent about 2 months watching tons of the free video tutorials that can be found on their website and on YouTube. They are very professionally done and very easy to follow. So I actually felt pretty comfortable using the product right out of the gate.
In fact, this was the biggest influencing factor that convinced me to purchase Thrive Themes in the end. They truly provide an ocean of support and education.
There is also a 30-day money back guarantee. So if you purchase the product and then decide later that it is not for you, no problem. There is no risk if you'd like to try it out. I suggest you do!
An amazing new feature will soon be released by the team at Thrive Themes. This is their new Theme Builder! I am super excited about this and can't wait to add it to my WordPress back end.
What does this mean exactly? Well, we will now be able to style those sections of our WordPress sites that could only be done using HTML and CSS up to now!
This means that we will have full editing and styling control over the headers, footers, blog page layout, search archives, single post layouts, post taxonomies and much more.
We can now customize every facet and detail of our websites with that same flexibility and power that we've been able to enjoy when designing our web pages. This to me is a game changer and will provide everyone with an amazing front end visual editing experience!
Here's a sneak peek at this very exciting feature:
The final release date has not been published yet but latest estimates were end of January, 2019. Stay tuned!
If you want to design beautiful and professional looking websites with minimal effort and time commitment, then Thrive Themes is for you! They have done all of the heavy lifting for you and allow you to build awesome websites quickly and with industry standard best practices already built in.
I still learn new things each time I use the product and still have many 'Oh my gosh' and 'WOW' moments. And Shane Melaugh and his team are always adding new training videos and relevant blog posts to help deepen my understanding and comfort level with Thrive Themes.
If you are prepared to invest the necessary amount of time to learn the product and its amazing features, you will not be disappointed. There just isn't a better product to be found. But if you think you can master everything the first time you use it, I'm afraid you may be in for a let down.
For me, it is my go-to website builder. It allows me to build amazing looking websites in a fraction of the time it used to take me. And with everything I get with Thrive Themes, me and my clients are very happy campers!
I have been very happy with it and foresee myself using Thrive Themes for many years to come!
